Program Overview
The Endocrinology Fellowship program at UCSF has a long history of training fellows with a focus on clinical excellence, outstanding research and compassionate care. Fellows are exposed to a broad array of patients at 3 distinct clinical sites through which they rotate: ZSFG, VA and UCSF Parnassus MC. The distinct sites offer a wide diversity of patients, ranging from typical cases to tertiary and quaternary care medicine.
Our ACGME-accredited program accepts 4 fellows per year. Fellows choose either the Clinical Track (2-year) or Academic/Research Track (3-year), based on their interests and career goals. Regardless of the track, the first year of fellowship focuses primarily on clinical training at the 3 major sites. The subsequent year(s) of training are individualized, based on the track chosen and the interest of each fellow.
In both tracks, there is comprehensive and rigorous clinical training, scholarly activity, and weekly structured didactics. In addition, fellows attend clinic conferences, Journal Club, multi-disciplinary tumor boards, endocrine grand rounds, cytopathology conferences and core lectures series. We also offer programs for professional development at UCSF, in medical education, health sciences leadership and clinical informatics.
